Soviet tank watch Empty Soviet tank watch

Post by Guest Thu Dec 01, 2011 6:16 am

Hello
I purchased about ~15 years ago an authentic soviet tank commander watch. Its a mechanical that must be wound every morning. I know that it requires service as it seems to lose time. My question to the experts here should I find a good watchmaker to service it or am I wasting my time and money.

A good service (complete disassemble, clean, rinse, oil adjust) costs me $75.00. I would base it upon that.

A bigger question is once a watchmaker opens the case, will he find that you need parts to replace those that are worn out. If so, where is he going to find them?

Unless it has some sentimental value, it's probably a better idea to just buy a new one.
